Picture Window VS Casement Window

The main difference between casement and floor-to-ceiling windows is the design. Casement windows come with hinges that allow you to open and close the window at your convenience; possibly letting some fresh air into your house. On the other hand, picture windows, as the name suggests, are fixed to the house and cannot be opened in any way.

Other differences are based on the following factors:

1. Energy efficiency

Casement windows are more energy efficient than floor to ceiling windows. By opening and closing windows, you can control the heat levels in your home, saving you the energy used to cool and warm your home. This in turn saves you a lot of energy bills.

2. Maintenance cost

Picture windows are less expensive to maintain than casement windows. You see, the picture windows are fixed, which makes them easy to clean in the first place. For casement windows, you need spare parts like hinges, handles, and sashes to support their operability, which can be expensive if they break frequently.

When should I choose casement windows?

Choose different window styles for different reasons. Some situations where you might want to choose a casement window include:

When looking for savings on energy bills. Casement windows don't need to rely on air conditioners and heaters because you open the windows when it's warm inside and close them when your house is cool.

When you are looking for ease of operation. The casement window is controlled by a one-hand crank. The other bits are hinges, which open easily when you move the hand crank.

When should the picture window be selected?

You need more light in your house. Once fixed, you can make the floor-to-ceiling windows more transparent, bringing more light into your home.

You need better outdoor vision. You make your picture windows as wide as possible to be able to enjoy the ambience outside without leaving your home.

Now you know the difference between casement windows and floor-to-ceiling windows. Casement windows are more energy efficient and easier to operate because they can be opened and closed whenever needed. Floor-to-ceiling windows, on the other hand, give you more outside views and more light into your house. To save energy costs and control the atmosphere, casement windows come first, although the two types of windows have different advantages and limitations.
