Steps to install a sliding door

Step-by-step guide on how to replace a sliding glass door
Step 1. Measure the rough opening
Measure the width of the door opening by tape measure. Using a tape measure, determine the width of the door opening. It is better to measure from the left to the right, then horizontally from the top to the bottom, and finally to the middle to make sure accuracy. Please use the smallest measurements as the width for the frame size.
Next, measure the height. Start from the top of the opening to the floor. Be aware of these dimensions and use the smallest size when purchasing a new door.
Step 2. Check The Level and Plumb
Make sure that the opening is 90 degrees or square for the door to fit before installing the door.
A carpenter’s level can be used to check whether the door is level or not. Place a level on each side of the door opening to check the plumb.
Step 3. Use Flash Weatherproof Doors
One of the most important things when installing a door is to get the door waterproofed and protect the door from damage caused by water overflow. Different types of materials can be used such as waterproof tape, and drip covers.
Step 4. Installation
After all of the above preparations, you can start installing the door.
Follow the steps in the installation instruction.
Step 5. Fill in any gaps
Check the gap between the new frame and the wall. If so, fill them with foam insulation and allow them to dry.
